Bad News.  Thehepolite name has been sold to a company in Taiwan. Hepolite products are now manufactured IN Taiwan.

Genuine (L.F. Harris) pistons. these are made to original spec.

Italian made pistons. these are good quality and reliable. I have had a pair of these in my TR6 for about 10 years now with no problems.

Australian made pistons. these appear to be turned from billet not forged but I have sold some and have received no complaints.  Please read on: -.

I hear quite a few complaints, about non Hepolite pistons, on the lines of "My mate used those and they were crap".

Problems are usually due to poor or incorect lubrication.  When fitting new pistons DO NOT USE   MULTIGRADE OIL OF ANY TYPE. Modern oils contain additives which improve lubrication.  These can work so well that the parts will fail to wear sufficiently to bed in.  This will lead to problems such as prolonged oil burning with consequent fouled plugs etc.

USE STRAIGHT OIL OF THE TYPE AND GRADE RECOMENDED FOR  EARLY VERSIONS OF YOUR BIKE. FOR THE FIRST 250 TO 300 MILES.  THEN CHANGE TO YOUR PREFERED OIL.

Piston Rings: -

We are normally prepared to split ring sets. However as the chance of selling individual rings is far less than complete sets we have to charge a higher price.  On the other hand, if you break a ring whilst fitting a piston,  it is far cheaper to buy one ring at £7 than a complete set.
